Who am I?

“I would rather have questions that can’t be answered than answers that can’t be questioned.”

Richard Feynman

My name is Floyd and I practice logic-based coaching. I love the work (the verb) of helping people realize their blind spots while dating, or when trying to maintain intimate and fulfilling romantic relationships, not situationships.

Logic is oftentimes juxtaposed to the “spiritual”. However, I have observed in my own life that the middle path (balance, equilibrium, moderation) between two seemingly opposed concepts, is oftentimes more sustainable, tru-er, and empowering. None of us can see our own face without help, especially when emotions run high such as when we deal with a romantic partner or date. Having an objective, compassionate mirror can greatly help.

In Mahayana Buddhism, a bodhisattva refers to anyone who has generated bodhicitta (buddha-mind, enlightenment-mind), a spontaneous desire and empathetic mind to attain Enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings.

Socrates, 1,000 years before said “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”. Buddhism allowed me to let go of the definition of me that I used to have; Socrates allowed me to navigate modern existence without definitions in a healthy way.

I used to define myself as an addict, anxious, angry and depressed person—in letting all those go I’ve realized that’s simply not true. I see myself as a bodhisattva, as I’ve challenged the beliefs and definitions of what I used to call ‘me’; and find myself Now living as a human ‘being’ instead of a human ‘do-er’.

It was the socratic logic together with the embodiment of the bodhicitta that allowed me to find my tru-est self

I’ve been called many things: coach, counselor, therapist and even guardian angel— and these labels are more indicative of the views of my previous clients than they are of my own view. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute, even if in a small manner, to my client’s lives. Because I think the small things make the big things, and little by little we can change the way you view the relationship world.

Synergizing logic with the ineffable can be very powerful in a romantic relationship because if you want a long term commitment, you will need the trust (logic); and if you want to feel the magic, you will want the lust (ineffable)
